Hayley Watson is an illustrator born and raised in rural Scotland, and currently based in Sydney, Australia.
Early influences from nature, storytelling and a general sense of 'small town boredom' in her childhood pushed her towards a creative path, which she further explored by studying fine art and obtaining a BA (Hons) from The Glasgow School of Art. Although Hayley began her artistic journey using analogue mediums, she now specialises in digital illustration, using tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Procreate.
Her work is often inspired by lucid memories and dreamlike experiences from her time living in Paris and Florence (the former being where she began pursuing illustration professionally) alongside her rural upbringing. Hayley's style combines abstract influences, reflecting the dynamism, revolution, and curiosity of the current age and paralleling the original psychedelic era of the 60s and 70s.
Her pieces weave fragmented memories and emotions into compelling visual stories that provoke reflection and imagination. Working internationally, she collaborates across editorial, music, film, and fashion sectors, driven by the desire to evoke connection through her artwork.
